Will of Margret Dickerson

This is a transcription of the "original" will from which the will was recorded in Will Book 4, page 491, in Prince Edward County, VA.

August 6, 1795 --Probated July 18, 1814

In the name of God amen, I Margret Dickerson of Prince Edward County, State of Virginia, being weak in body though sound in memory, do constitute this my last will and testament.  First, I give my soul to almighty God, who gave it and my body to the earth from whence it was taken in full assurance of its resurrection from thence at the last day and as touching my worldly goods wherein it has pleased almighty God to bless me with, I give and dispose of in the manner and way as follows.  First, I give my son William Dickerson one shilling sterling.  Also, I give to my son, Benjamin Dickerson one shilling sterling.  I give to my son James Dickerson one heifer that he has now in his possession.  I give my daughter, Margret Hill one shilling sterling.  I give my daughter Rachel Dickerson, a daughter, Jean Dickerson one shilling sterling.  I give to my two daughters, Jean Dickerson and Nancy Dickerson all the residue of my estate to be valued and equally divided between them by James Mitchell and William Hill, Sr. and James Chapman and John Dabney or any two of them and lastly, I do constitute and appoint my two daughters, Jean Dickerson and Nancy Dickerson executors of this my last will and testament.  In witness hereof I set my hand and offer my seal this the sixth day of August in the year of our Lord God, One-thousand seven hundred and ninety five
