Nathanial (Nathan) David Dickerson (28 Aug. 1818 -- 11 Apr 1901)

     Nathan Dickerson was the third child of John G. Dickerson (6 Nov. 1785 - 9 Aug. 1873) and Nancy  Green Gaulding (1784 - 3 Septa 1861).  He was born on Friday, August 28th, 1818 the same year as Emperor Alexander II of Russia.  Also that year the flag of the United States was adopted as having 13 red and white stripes and 20 stars for the existing states at that time.  James Monroe was the fifth president of the USA.  Easter Sunday fell on the earliest possible date (March 22nd), which will not happen again on that date until the year 2285 (467 years). "Silent Night" was composed and first performed in the Church of St. Nikolaus in Oberndorf, Austria.
     Nathan and Nancy were married on Monday, December 7th, 1835 in Charlotte County, VA.  That day was the beginning of the first German railway locomotive.
